RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS
What is Section 8 Housing?
Section 8 of the United States Housing Act of 1937 otherwise known as Section 8 addresses rental payments and housing assistance to families and households with low income. The Housing Choice Voucher program is the main portion of Section 8 and it pays a large portion of utility bills and rent for approximately 2.1 million households. Section 8 programs are managed by The US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The Housing Choice Voucher Program addresses rental assistance for tenants so renters can move from one unit of minimum housing quality to another.
