Elementary Students Celebrate Older Americans Month

The Watermark at East Hill Older Americans Month

SOUTHBURY, Conn.—Third, fourth and fifth grader students at Oxford Center School celebrated Older Americans Month with a Youth Art Contest and Exhibit, in collaboration with The Watermark at East Hill. On June 1, the winning students from each grade were announced and each received a $100 savings bond. The students were required to draw an original 12x18 work of art using the theme, “My Favorite Time With An Older American.” The art was judged by local community leaders and is on displayed at The Watermark at East Hill until June 15. The Youth Art Contest is one of the many intergenerational programs that is being initiated at The Watermark for the local youth and older adults to share in educational experiences.
