On September 30, 2005, Logan Square East hosted its first silent auction to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, a world leader in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

A donated pair of Rolling Stones concert tickets turned out to be the most expensive item of the evening, going for a hefty bid of $370! Also popular was dinner for two at trendy Le Bec-Fin which went for $270. Other popular items were a Tiffany’s sterling silver bracelet, a basketball signed by Charles Barkley, and evening getaway packages for the Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton hotels.

Director of Dining Services Gerry Fuselli served up his delicious hors d’oeuvres in style at this event that drew more than 150 people. His delicious morsels were accented by live classical piano music. Dante, from Flowers by Dante, donated beautiful autumn arrangements of flowers in gratitude for the loving care that his mother has received while living at Logan Square East.

Johanna Caplan, Director of Sales and Marketing, coordinated the auction and said that it was very personal for her. “My grandfather has been afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease, and it has progressed rapidly over the last couple of years. Having had a personal experience with the disease makes me all the more determined to help find a cure.” At the end of the night, almost $9,700 dollars was raised at this special event.

At Logan Square East, the fight against Alzheimer’s disease is reaching new heights!
