Joshua Springs Senior Living in Bullhead City recently unveiled a powerful new tribute to the veterans who live and work within its walls, as well as to those who are forever remembered.
As featured in the Mohave Valley Daily News, the new Veterans Wall of Honor was revealed on May 23 in a heartfelt ceremony attended by residents, team members, and community guests. This moving installation is more than a collection of names and photographs; it’s a celebration of courage, sacrifice, and lifelong dedication to our country.
“This wall is a heartfelt tribute — a symbol of our deep gratitude and respect for the brave women and men who have served in our nation’s armed forces,” said Director of Sales and Marketing Jessee Martinez, “It honors not only the veterans who are with us today, but also those who are no longer here, yet remain forever in our hearts.”
The white wall stands out against Joshua Springs’ warm yellow tones, adorned with military-themed décor, inspirational quotes from U.S. leaders, and 17 portraits of veteran residents, three of whom are also team members.
Among the honored:
- Thomas “Tommy” Pesek — Now serving as maintenance director, Tommy served in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1980 and held the rank of Corporal (E-4).
- Joseph “Joe” Fennessy — A maintenance assistant at Joshua Springs Senior Living, Joe served as a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1985 to 1989.
- Stephen “Steve” Mitchell — Currently the shuttle director, Steve served as a Specialist (E-4) in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971.
Joshua Springs Senior Living resident Joseph “Joe” Lawrence also received special recognition. A World War II veteran, Lawrence served as a U.S. Navy SK 3rd Class Petty Officer and played a vital role in fueling the 3rd Fleet. Most notably, he witnessed the signing of the Treaty of Surrender in Tokyo on September 2, 1945.
The event also featured a poignant memorial flag ceremony in honor of Fennessy’s late father, who served a distinguished 32-year military career across multiple branches, including a role as crew chief for the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
“It’s a celebration of courage, sacrifice and unwavering dedication,” said Martinez. “We thank each of you for your service to our country. It is a true honor to have you as part of the Joshua Springs family.”
