Passover Seder

The eight-day festival of Passover is celebrated in the early spring. Passover commemorates the Israelites escape from slavery in ancient Egypt. It is observed by avoiding leaven products, and highlighted by the Seder meals. In Hebrew Passover is known as Pesach (which means “to pass over”). On Tuesday evening we hosted our annual Passover Seder with Cantor Janece Cohen officiating with Sarah Bolt who conducts our Sabbath services. We had over 50 residents and their families attend the ceremonial meal. The retelling of the Passover story was engaging, with our very own resident Bernie Greenapple who chanted the blessings to open the Seder. We were very lucky to have Pat Caffrey, the Regional Director of Food Services join us and he made the most delicious, fluffy matzah balls ever! The food specially prepared by our talented dining service associates was a true culinary treat. We are ever grateful to have the chance to gather together and celebrate our “independence”!
