Watch the sunset while enjoying happy hour at one of the local restaurants on the waterfront. There’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Located in Orange County, California, Dana Point is halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego. There are over 50 specialty shops and restaurants. The Dana Point Harbor is also the gateway to Doheny State Park, a 62-acre State Park, perfect for picnics, swimming, and biking. As you can imagine, water activities are very popular, including watching the migrating gray whales from December through April. Mother nature pulls out all the stops here.

History of Dana Point

The City of Dana Point is named after Richard Henry Dana Jr. who documented his journey from Boston to California. In his sea journal, Two Years Before the Mast, he said the area was “the only romantic spot on the coast”. 

Dana Point Harbor was built in the 1960s and is home to a marina, shops, and restaurants. You can also catch the Catalina Express here and enjoy a quick trip to the famous Catalina Islands.
