The St. Joe Company, Rookis Investment Partners and Watermark Retirement Communities are building a 148-residence senior living community that brings together the best in gracious design and innovative programming to create an integrative care environment where residents will thrive. The Watersound Fountains will be situated in a prime location in Watersound, Florida, near the new master-planned community Latitude Margaritaville. Construction on the 226,000 square foot project will begin in spring 2021 and has an anticipated opening date in early 2023.
This hospitality-focused senior living community will feature 148 independent living residences. Studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments – ranging in size from nearly 400 sq ft to 1,500+ sq ft – will be offered on a monthly rental basis, with an initial membership fee. Comfortable and thoughtfully designed residences will have modern kitchens, upgraded appliances and plentiful windows to take advantage of stunning views from this four story building and Florida’s Panhandle celebrated sunny, mild weather. Select technologies will be woven into the community’s infrastructure to assist with resident well-being including security, sleep, exercise and nutrition.
Architecture and design will feature the best of regional design principles with strong Caribbean influences exerting themselves in integrated indoor/outdoor spaces including covered porches, patios and gazebos; interior spaces brightly lit by sunlight; and a muted bright color palette with accents rich in color and texture.
Backed by a robust suite of services grounded in a concierge model of hospitality, amenities at Watersound Fountains will showcase food, engagement and wellness. Dining venues include a formal dining room, a bistro with open-hearth oven and bar, as well as a private dining room. Cuisine will follow Watermark’s celebrated menus that feature fresh, seasonal ingredients, always with accommodation for local flavors. Amenities include an outdoor heated pool, fully-equipped wellness center with a salon and spa, multiple activity venues, a state-of-the-art fitness center, club rooms, a theater, putting green, bocce ball court, dog park and community garden. Engagement programming will be structured by Watermark’s award-winning Watermark University, which encourages residents, associates and families to teach courses on what they are passionate about.
