In the face of familial challenges and personal sorrow, Allie, an effervescent child, experienced life’s harshness far too young. With parents grappling with addiction, followed by the addiction-related loss of her mother at an early age, her vibrant spirit dimmed. What remained was a noticeably introverted little girl. Allie lived with her grandma, who worked three jobs to support the family financially. After being introduced to Allie and her story, Watermark for Kids paid for a year of gymnastics class and two summer camps. According to camp counselors, Allie was able to make new friends and regain her outgoing spirit, engaging with other kids.
