The Health Care Professional's Perspective

Meet Craig Winter, Director of Rehabilitation of a Watermark Community and
Physical Therapist for HealthPRO Heritage

“The quality of life for seniors in a community like mine is much better than it would be at home. It allows for much more independence. It allows for them to feel like they’re doing more and maybe not so much having things done for them.”
– Craig Winter

Craig’s Take – Restoring Independence is My Passion

Formerly a biology teacher, Craig pursued his doctorate in physical therapy because getting people back to doing what they enjoy most is what he enjoys most. Whether he works with people for a few days or a few months, his most rewarding day is the day his patients graduate home. When patients arrive to Craig’s care, they’ve usually been in a hospital bed for two weeks or a month; many aren’t even able to sit on the edge of their bed. Two weeks later, they can walk. That’s success. During the height of the pandemic, Craig was grateful that Watermark was so quick to enact measures to keep associates and patients safe. There was never a shortage of equipment and his team donned full PPE during treatments to ensure everyone could continue their therapy treatments safely. With the therapy gym closed, Craig and his team put everything on wheels to keep rehab rolling. He and his team are front-line heroes whom Watermark is proud to count among us.
