The Resident's Perspective

Meet Eddie Schechter, a Watermark resident for 2 1/2 years

“Moving to the Watermark made me a lot more independent and a lot happier … Being engaged with things I enjoy is helping me stay young, healthy, healthier.”

– Eddie Schechter

Eddie’s Take – The Emphasis is on Living

When health issues forced Eddie to explore senior living much earlier than most, he had a few false starts. He found in-home care too lonely and residential care too boring. Finally, after exploring more fully, he found a Watermark community that really clicked, one where he could be himself and receive the encouragement and support he needs to connect with people and passions, new and old. Eddie’s family was both relieved and thrilled to see Eddie visiting museums and enjoying the local culinary scene with neighbors, volunteering in the arts, and taking up healthy new hobbies like kickboxing, all while receiving great care.
Neither cognitive challenges nor the pandemic stopped Eddie from thriving. He appreciated that Watermark communicated constantly and helped him safely adapt all his favorite pursuits. He was soon enjoying virtual dinner outings, outdoor kickboxing classes, Zoom drama rehearsals and cycling indoors.
To sum up senior living in Eddie’s words, “the emphasis is on living.”
