Connecticut

One of the original 13 colonies, Connecticut’s many original contributions to American culture include the song “Yankee Doodle” (written here!), the birthplace of the hamburger (1900 in New Haven), and home of the first speed limit (12 mph). Better known are its stunning autumn foliage, fascinating coastal cities, and prestigious universities and colleges, including Yale University. There are two Watermark communities in Connecticut: one in Bridgeport and one in Southbury.
