Joining the military is the beginning of an important chapter, one filled with purpose, growth, and countless adventures.
“I had a lot of memorable times. I got to go to a lot of places — Germany, the Philippines, London, and Hawaii three times.”
When reflecting on their service, many veterans shared that they had access to opportunities they never imagined would be available to them. From working with NASA to being involved in secret missions, the veterans noted how these experiences had a profound impact on their work ethic and character.
“When I got in the Navy, after a while, they put me in the radar gang, and there’s a lot to learn. And for the first time, I got serious about learning.”
Shaping One’s Character
Being in the military was more than an individual act. It meant relying on fellow servicemen and women to accomplish goals and missions together.
“The comradery, team work, all of that was a big part of being in the military.”
While serving brought countless challenges and obstacles, it also inspired strength, unity, and perseverance to overcome them.
“I’m very proud. It made a man out of me.”
What Veterans Day Truly Means

“I was happy I could serve. The country needs men and women to serve, and I was happy to do that.”

“To me, service is a show of gratitude for living in a country that’s truly free.”
