From insects and animals to human eyes, the variety found in nature is what drove Mary to capture what she saw in the world. Her love of variety is also reflected in the mediums Mary uses, which includes oil paints, colored pencils, and even dirt, some of which she’s found near her home at The Hacienda at the Canyon.
“I walk around The Hacienda three times every day and really enjoy the beautiful desert scene around me,” she explains.
“My favorite place is this view with lots of hills and canyons. When the light changes, it shows the depth of these canyons and the contrast between light and dark.”
Whether hiking the trails near The Hacienda or collecting new materials, like leaves and rocks, for her upcoming artwork, Mary finds inspiration just out her own front door.
“Living here, I feel like I’ve had a chance to bloom.”
