Some stories are best heard in someone’s own words.

Willow’s is one of them.

A longtime Portlander, artist at heart, and devoted dog mom, Willow moved to The Watermark at the Pearl after a major health event and a growing sense of isolation during the pandemic. What she found here was connection — with old friends, new neighbors, and even a few happy-hour regulars.

In a recent sponsored episode of City Cast Portland,  Willow talks openly about the moment she walked through our doors and unexpectedly reunited with a friend she hadn’t seen in 50 years. She shares how creativity, laughter, and a sense of belonging shape her days, from resistance training and bridge club to attending concerts, art activities, and daily happy hours. Her dog Lizzie — a miniature Australian shepherd with one blue eye and one brown — has become a beloved community ambassador, especially for nervous first-time tour guests. One tail wag and a gentle nudge, and you can almost see shoulders drop and smiles appear.

If you’re curious what life really looks like inside an urban senior living community shaped by creativity, purpose, and genuine connection, we invite you to listen.

You can find Willow’s episode of City Cast Portland on Apple, Spotify, and the City Cast Portland website.
