A member of The Hacienda Mission San Luis Rey was recently featured in an article published by The Southern Cross, highlighting how his faith has led him to find a new purpose in life.
After serving in the Vietnam War and suffering from PTSD, Father Ed McKenzie, OFM, became more involved in his local parish and eventually pursued a religious vocation. Today, he leads a retreat for other veterans and their families, helping them overcome past traumas and challenges together.
“Find a spirituality that will take you out of yourself, a spirituality that will flow into other people in some way,” he advised. “We’re in this life together, and we have got to help each other out.”
