A recent feature in the Williamson County Sun spotlighted a wonderful community partnership between The Hacienda at Georgetown and Ride On Center for Kids (ROCK). This collaboration is bringing joy, connection, and new experiences to members.
On May 14, members from The Hacienda’s Memory Care neighborhood visited ROCK for a special day of equine-assisted learning and a picnic. The visit provided seniors with opportunities to engage with horses through grooming, gentle interaction, and shared moments of connection, all designed to stimulate memory and promote overall well-being.
For many participants, the day sparked long-held memories and meaningful responses. One resident, Joan, confidently remembered how to groom a horse, which is a skill from her younger years. Another resident, Bruce Martin, who has a lifelong love of horses, smiled and sang to one of the horses during grooming, bringing joy to everyone around him.
“It really means so much to my dad and so much to our families,” said Courtney Amparao, Bruce Martin’s daughter. “When we know our dad is happy and thriving when visiting ROCK. What a gift to us all.”
The experience also reflects ROCK’s mission to foster healing and connection through equine-assisted activities. “Supporting fellow community organizations strengthens local partnerships, fosters a spirit of collaboration, and helps amplify the positive impact on those we collectively serve. It is very important to ROCK that we continue to help the community that has been uplifting us since 1998,” said Devyn Kor, spokesperson for ROCK.
This outing to ROCK was the second visit for members from The Hacienda, and both organizations look forward to continuing the partnership. Programs like this reflect The Hacienda at Georgetown’s commitment to creating vibrant, purposeful opportunities for members through meaningful community connections.
